21 Make a Parallel Plan

Keep your options open, even before you submit your application.  If your application is unsuccessful, use it as an opportunity to explore new options for career development.

  1.  If you haven’t already done so, Identify Your Skills and Strengths, and think about how they relate to the program to which you applied.
  2.  Relate those skills and strengths to three other opportunities for employment or education.
  3. Go back to your Career Plan to outline next steps.
  4. Book an appointment with a Career Educator at the Career Centre to define your opportunities in and out of grad school.

Visit the Career Centre and meet with us for a 15-minute conversation to talk about your next step(s). Find our hours here.
