38 Balance work and school

If you are feeling stressed or overwhelmed trying to balance your academic, personal and professional responsibilities, your career planning will suffer.  Refresh your perspective with this technique.

Remove all tolerations. Tolerations are those minor nuisances in life that aren’t bad enough to demand a solution, but aren’t easy enough to fix quickly and immediately. We tolerate hundreds of things on a daily basis, from broken zippers to not having somewhere to hang your keys. All of these tolerations add up and weigh us down, blocking us from gaining the momentum we need to move forward.  Here’s how:

  1. Make a list of everything that you tolerate in your day to day life.
  2. Go through them one by one and figure out how you can remove each toleration.
  3. Commit one Sunday to removing every toleration from your life, and notice what happens.
