39 Ask for help getting unstuck

Looking for a job can be stressful. It is easy to spiral into doubt and to self-sabotage, losing all your momentum. An effective cure for feeling totally overwhelmed is what we call ‘Everyday Prozac.’

Here’s how it works. If you are feeling: stressed, angry, frustrated, hopeless, jobless or depressed, try to put those feelings on hold until you:

  1. Sleep for a full seven hours.
  2. Eat a full, healthy meal.
  3. Exercise.
  4. Treat yourself to something you love.

If you do all four and you still feel depressed, hopeless or angry, give credit to your feelings and ask for help. Health and Wellness can provide a range of tools to help, ranging from a series of Coping Workshops to a full suite of Mental Health and Wellness services.
